SCJ 541 - Crisis Management and Trauma Intervention This course will introduce students to the basic concepts of crisis management and intervention with a focus on both theory and application. In addition to basic concepts, ethical and legal considerations, and safety concerns in crisis counseling, students will learn specific crisis intervention skills that can be applied in a variety of settings and with diverse populations. Topics to be examined in the context of crisis intervention include loss and grief, suicidal and homicidal behavior, drug addiction, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and child abuse. Vicarious trauma and worker burnout are studied.
