CJ 101 - Introduction to Criminal Justice

This course focuses on the various processing stages, practices, and personnel of the criminal justice system.  The problem of crime in American society and the administrative responses are examined.  Students will explore both historical and contemporary components of the system, including the police, the courts, the correction field, and the community.  This course is designed to provide students with the broad-based understanding of both the effects of crime on our community structures, the inequities present in our society that are exemplified in the system, and the challenges the criminal justice system faces in responding to crime in our contemporary society.
