HSV 101 - Introduction to Human Service Systems This course will begin by providing students with a good foundation of knowledge of the field of human services including its history and evaolution as an accepted profession. Students will be exposed to the theoretical approaches to human service work while having the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of basic skills and interventions that have proven successful with diverse poplulations. These include basic listening skills, building trust and rapport, and effective use of empathy. Multicultural competency and scoial justice will be consistent themes throughout the course.
