WMST 101 - Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies This course will provide students with an introductory interdisciplinary examination of women and gender in the United States. We will discuss gender-based inequities and their impact on people of all classes, races, sexual and ethnic identifications. We will explore the ways in which gender is constructed and the extent to which gender affects access to opportunity, power and resources. Students will learn strategies for critiquing gender roles and working toward gender justice. Furthermore, they will learn to formulate and support their own independent viewpoints of the issues covered.
