EDUC 304 - Math Education (PK through Middle School) Current best-practice, research-based instructional methods in mathematical processes including problem-solving; reasoning; communication; the ability to recognize, make and apply connections; integration of manipulatives; the ability to construct and to apply multiple connected representations; and the application of content to real world experiences for children from PK through middle school. Includes the assessment, diagnosis and evaluation of student learning in mathematics, the integrations of technology in teaching, and classroom management relative to mathematics. Course content is aligned with Simpson’s Teacher Education Program, the Iowa Teaching Standards, school district standards, and the Iowa Core Curriculum (including the National Core Standards). Concurrent enrollment in EDUC 329P is required.
Credit(s): 2 Prerequisite(s): EDUC 222 . Completion of MATH 116 and MATH 117 encoursaged, but not required. Offered: every spring.
